I'm not usually on LinkedIn on the weekends but I was expecting a message so I opened the app on my phone.

This job was in my notifications on a job search I have set up. See any issues with it? It's for an accounting CLERK (no pay was listed but I guarantee it's on the low end since it's for a clerk), yet this company is expecting whoever they hire to not only prepare financial statements (that is NOT something a clerk would do), they're also expected to ensure compliance with organizational financial policies. I'm sorry, what???

And recruiters and hiring managers wonder why they're having a hard time finding qualified candidates 🙄

Recruiters, hiring managers, and whoever else is in charge of hiring: stop trying to combine roles in order to save money.

I feel sorry for the candidates who not only apply to this role but are also unfortunate enough to get picked to interview for it. If hired, you'll be doing a higher level job at a lower level title and pay.

You've been warned ⚠️

Happy Friday 🤍 For those wondering what the job search is like right now, this is a good example. A recruiter recently reached out to me about a position they're trying to fill for their client. We spoke a couple of times before an interview with the client was scheduled. In one of our conversations, I was asked if I had any travel plans coming up (which, now that I think about it, I probably shouldn't have answered). I was honest and mentioned a short trip in mid-May to Texas for a family reunion. This morning (the day of the interview), I received this email telling me my interview was canceled but if I could change my trip, the recruiter would "be happy to let my client know and see if we can get you scheduled again for an interview". It ended with, "Please let me know how you'd like to proceed". I don't even know how to respond to this. First of all, my trip is 4 weeks away. Happy Friday 🚙 I picked up my rental car today. This weekend I'm driving up to Northern California for a cat sitting job 🐈‍⬛. Do I usually travel 👝 for a cat sitting job? No. The one exception I make is for family and believe it or not, this is the first of two out of town cat sitting jobs for me (the second is in March, that one requires flying to another city, I'm looking at you, Dallas 🛩).  I've commented on many posts from job seekers telling them sometimes you have to look outside of traditional jobs to make money 💲, even if it's only temporary. This is an example of that. And I feel lucky that at this weird point in my career, I can visit with family and help them out while they're away from home. Have a great weekend! I'll probably be off LinkedIn for most of the next week to enjoy some downtime.
