Happy Tuesday 📰 I'm going out of town tomorrow ✈️ for a cat 🐈⬛ sitting job and this is the extent of my packing 👝 so far - my walking shoes 👟. I guess I should add some clothes 👕👖🧦 I get comments and messages from people asking me why I post about cat sitting, some have even said that it makes me look unprofessional and that boggles my mind 😵💫 Here's the thing: this job market sucks for a lot of people right now - especially a Gen X-er like me, so I'm doing what I can to hold onto to my home 🏡. If you see that as unprofessional, I'm guessing you have a full-time job 🤔 I don't hold on to comments like that but I know some job seekers do, so I post about cat sitting to let others know there's nothing wrong with doing something unconventional (especially if you love it) to help make ends meet. No one is in your shoes 🥿 So job seekers, find something you can do while you're looking 👀 for your next job and just do it: ° Like driving 🚗? Sign up wit...
Happy Friday 🤍 For those wondering what the job search is like right now, this is a good example. A recruiter recently reached out to me about a position they're trying to fill for their client. We spoke a couple of times before an interview with the client was scheduled. In one of our conversations, I was asked if I had any travel plans coming up (which, now that I think about it, I probably shouldn't have answered). It ended with, "Please let me know how you'd like to proceed". I don't even know how to respond to this. First of all, my trip is 4 weeks away. I've yet to hear of anyone start a job within that time frame (fr...
I just got off the phone with a recruiter. While the outcome wasn't what I was hoping for, I am happy to get the closure. Earlier this week, I had a virtual interview with a recruiter placing an accounting role at a local company. The role is a lower level one that I was ok with being submitted for because I want a less stressful job. As long as a job will pay my bills, I'm ok with a lower salary (and I'm definitely ok with a less stressful workload and having a life outside of work). Apparently the hiring manager has her doubts about that and told the recruiter she was going to pass on interviewing me. The recruiter, true to her word, told me that she'd have an update for me by the end of the week and called late this afternoon to tell me. "I'm sorry" she said. "It's ok" I replied back. "I don't think I could work for someone who doubts what I'm saying, doubts my motives. Yes, I need regular income and that's why I'm ...
