post #23 - Take the holidays off
Happy Thursday 💚
I don't know who needs to hear this, but it's ok to put your job search on hold right now. Christmas is in two weeks, 2026 is in three, take some time while you have it to enjoy the holidays.
At this point in the year most companies have paused hiring (for a number of reasons) and even if they are still looking to hire, few companies these days are capable of hiring in three weeks. The likelihood of you getting a new job in 2025 is pretty low, why not take some time for yourself while you can? Here are some ideas that don't cost much:
🎄 Go for a walk and enjoy the Christmas lights and decorations in your neighborhood
📺 Watch Christmas movies and eat popcorn 🍿
📖 Go to the library and check out a Christmas-themed book
👨👩👧👦 Visit with family and friends you don't get to see very often
👵 Visit a nursing home to spread some holiday cheer
🎁 Volunteer to wrap presents for a parent with small children to help keep the spirit of Santa 🎅 alive
🐕 Visit your local animal shelter and see if you can take a dog out for a doggy day trip
You deserve some downtime, don't feel guilty for pausing your job search. Come January, companies will be hiring again, or at least posting ghost jobs...
I believe in the magic of Christmas, do you?
